Young people in Frome will have the chance to see just how fast they can scoot, bike and skate by taking part in an exciting event at the Old Showfield.

Ride Kids Ride will be held at the Old Showfield on Sunday 8 September from 12.30pm to 4.30pm.

As well as racing fun, there will also be a barbecue and refreshments available making it a great summer holiday afternoon activity for Frome families looking for something to do.

Children can get involved by completing as many laps of the field as they can in 30 minutes, for as little as £2 per child which includes entry and a medal.

There will be two distances available for different age ranges. A shorter lap around the football field suitable for primary school age and a longer lap around the whole field (four laps = 5k) suitable for middle school age.

Mayor of Frome, Mark Dorrington, said: "This event will give residents the chance to get outdoors and get active as well as explore one of the town's much-loved and well-used green spaces.

"If you haven't had a chance to spend any time there before there is a play area, outdoor gym, lots of open space for dog walking and is home to Frome's Community Orchard."

Participants will receive a ticket into the raffle for each finished lap. The raffle includes the chance to win a bike and helmet plus one year's maintenance all kindly donated by Halfords.

Parking will be available at Frome Town Football Club. Lions Club of Frome is organising this event with support from Frome Town Council.
