Three fire crews were called to a flat in Frome last night (June 1) after some curtains caught fire.
The Fire Service were called to a report of smoke coming from a window of a property in Great Western Street just before 7pm.

A fire appliance from Frome was mobilised following calls from passing motorists who had spotted a car on fire down a lane at the above location. The vehicle was well alight on our arrival but they soon had it under control and prevented it from spreading or impacting the environment, using a hose reel jet to extinguish it and by making the vehicle, and area safe. The cause was confirmed to be deliberate so the Police were requested to attend, as the vehicle had been abandoned.
Funny, but we still call post-war houses "modern". This refers to "all mod cons", when back in the day, everyone wanted new kitchens, bathrooms, inside toilets.
Now we look for space and light, easily found in 1960s houses, an ideal blank canvas. Great for multi-purpose zoning, perfect for family living. Zoning allows a multitude of activities without cramping anyone's style. Don't dismiss that boxy, tired old house - they have amazing potential.
