One of the Frome share boxes in the town park has been destroyed by fire.

The box on the edge of Victoria Park path is opposite the children's play area which was hit by an arson attack on November 4.

It is not clear when the fire happened but yesterday (November 17) officers swept the park off Weymouth Road as part of Operation Sceptre, for knives and weapons and they did not refer to it on their social media post.

At the previous fire the Frome crew were again at the park to extinguish several metres of grass on fire in the children's play area, managing to prevent it spreading to trees without it causing serious damage.

However the scorched grass led many locals to ask why the park, a popular spot close to the school and Mary Baily playing fields, to be locked at night.

One post on social media reminded readers that had been the case:

" It used to be locked up at night, then it was decided to leave it open, cut the hedges low so what was going on in the park would be quite visible." Frome Town Council said at the time: "The Town Rangers were deeply disappointed to come into work this morning and to find this blatant vandalism, it was not the way any of them wanted to start the day. They want to thank Frome's Fire Service who attended and ask if anyone knows of any information regarding the incident to call 101 give the crime reference number 5221259056."
