He was one of the first children in Frome to be officially diagnosed with ADHD, now Kirk Latham is acclaimed as one of the most successful former pupils from Frome College. Together with his brother Scotty, Kirk, who is 36, runs a highly successful scaffolding company. But when he was at Frome College (1996-1999) he is the first to admit, he didn't enjoy his time in education. He said: " I couldn't concentrate, but back then ADHD was almost unknown. The College tried hard to understand me and supported me well: they let me have space when I needed it, which was really important."

But he did love sport and was a successful GB triathlete, competing in Canada in the sprint age group at the Worlds and in Germany. He also played rugby while at school in the year below Jon Clarke, who is also in the college prospectus for his outstanding sporting excellence. While Kirk was helped at the College by the sports department, he was supported at home by both parents, but particularly his mum. He said: " My mum bore the brunt of it, and back then ADHD wasn't as well known. No one really knew much about the condition.I just didn't and couldn't sit still concentrate. I would be moving on quickly to lots of things, I couldn't concentrate at all." But that hasn't stopped him running the successful scaffolding company Latham Scaffolding for the past 12 years. He said: " I had various jobs but found a real passion for scaffolding." Kirk now starts in the College's prospectus as one of their outstanding former pupils.
