I moved to Frome at the end of January to become the vicar of Christ Church and St. Mary's.

Just as I was getting to know people within the church community and beyond, we have been in lockdown and social contact has moved to screen or phone.

With our church building closed for the foreseeable future, it is even more strange especially as we approach this Easter Weekend when those of the Christian faith celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, and our traditions mingle with the older deeper celebrations of new life and Spring.

The Easter story begins with the death of Jesus and the tomb in which he was laid sets the scene for that first Easter morning. We are currently under the shadow of Covid 19.. and our thoughts might very well be of death… that of those we love, ourselves, even our Prime Minister.

Our way of saying goodbye has had to change as funerals are now very small. This can make a difficult situation even harder to bear. This Easter the promise of Life beyond death may seem a long way off, but if you would like to talk… even if you are not a Christian…. about how this is affecting please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Equally, if you would like someone to be prayed for, we have people willing to offer time and prayer for any situation.

I'm looking forward to the future, when we can walk out from these shadows, and I can get to know the people of Frome properly.

Our Sunday services are currently recorded and on the website: www.christchurch-stmarys-frome.co.uk.
