News in Frome

Frome Toy Library, part of Purple Elephant, is popping up all over the place.

In an ordinary week, as well offering hundreds of carefully selected games and toys for children to Loan-at-Home, the Toy Library usually runs two stay-and-play sessions in two regular town centre venues. With only a couple of weeks to go until this year's Frome Window Wanderland (Friday 4th March - Monday 7th March), event organisers are excited to announce that workshops are being held at Black Swan Arts over half term, under the guidance of Mel Day. As well as their usual workshops for making displays for your window at home (remember to bring your window measurements!) they are really pleased to be offering workshops for creating a 'Community Window' display for the Round Tower Gallery at the Black Swan. These are aimed at people who perhaps have not participated before and feel a bit nervous; or if you haven't got a suitable window or if you live outside of Frome and wish to join in the fun!

To book your FREE place for these workshops follow the link below and sign up via the eventbrite links to the relevant workshop you wish to attend.

Dougie Brown, Director of Services at Active and In Touch and Frome Medical Practice Charity Champion, Kevin Sivell

Frome Medical Practice has chosen local charity Active and In Touch as their new Charity of the Year. Active and In Touch aims to support lonely and isolated people, befriending them and helping them to feel part of the community. The charity also coordinates Frome Community Drivers, a network of volunteers who support people to make essential journeys, such as for medical appointments or shopping.

Frome Medical Practice Charity Champion, Kevin Sivell, said "We are delighted to be working with Active and In Touch as our Charity of the Year. The purpose of the charity aligns closely with the work we do as a practice on building connections, and we know what a positive impact one to one befriending can have on someone's health and wellbeing. We hope that over the course of the next few months we can both fundraise for Active and In Touch and also help raise awareness of the charity, the volunteering opportunities that they have and the support they are able to offer to local people."
