With all league fixtures for our seniors and minis and juniors finished for the year, the players and families of Frome RFC can look forward to a well deserved break over the festive period. However, there will still be some rugby action at Gypsy Lane when the Annual Frome RFC 'Town V Gown' Paul Lovatt Cup will be held on December 27.
The annual Christmas fixture, now played in honour of Club Stalwart Paul Lovatt. sees a select Frome RFC 'Town' XV face the returning 'Gown' XV - a team made up of Frome RFC players who are either studying away at University or who have moved away but return for the holidays. The game kicks off at 2pm.
On Saturday Frome RFC 2nd XV made the short journey to Bath to face high flying Avonvale RFC in search of a solid performance.
The visitors started well and after the first ten minutes had set a strong start winning their line outs and the first few scrums, however this was all in their own half, and on the 12 minute mark, the home side managed to build some pressure and from a line out built the drive and peered there way over for the first points of the day.
Frome RFC welcomed Swanage & Wareham RFC were to 'the Lane' on Saturday in front of a large crowd of supporters and ex players who were attending the annual reunion dinner. The side were also joined by players from the U9's as they ran out.
The visitors came to Frome on the back of a huge win against Devizes RFC so the home side were expecting a hard battle.

Six excited members of Frome Town Youth FC Wildcats recently played in their first football festival at Beversbrook sports ground, Calne.
The team of U7 and U8 girls joined five other girls teams and played a round robin festival throughout the morning.

Having secured a win in last week's opener the Frome RFC 2nds started brightly against a relatively unknown Chippenham RFC 2nd XV.
Following a great scrum won against the head, the backs had a early run, with fullback Kyle Williamson kicking ahead and winger Luke Stanley able to out-run the defence and touch down with only two minutes gone.

Frome Town FC is looking to sell some special Flexi-Tickets before its match on Tuesday (September 24) in a bid to buy out its energy contract and move to a new supplier.
The club has been in discussions over the summer in regards to its energy provision. Having made steps with the solar stand, the club is keen to take advantage of further energy savings and alternative providers.

Gordon Grierson lead his men out for the first time as newly-promoted Frome RFC II took on Calne RFC.
The first half started with Frome taking control and moving through the phases, with great carries by Grierson, Duppa-Miller, Bridle and Randall, ending with winger Giles being on the end of a sweeping move to score in the corner. Giles added the extras.

After narrowly missing out on promotion last season, Frome RFC have been preparing well in the off season, and anticipating the first league fixture at home against Swindon College Old Boys RFC.
The first points of the day came after seven minutes - following early pressure, Frome were awarded a penalty.
Frome Tri Club members dominated the male race at the Midsomer Triathlon in Midsomer Norton yesterday (September 1).
Club members Harry Coomber and Keith Penny took first and second, ahead of Alexander Williams, of Oakhill, who is a member of Reflex Racing.
